Have I ever told you that I totally dig commercials? Seriously, I’ve been known to RAIL over the BP commercials for months, and sing commercial songs for entire seasons. Not the car commercials, mind you. Those are a waste of airspace. But the good ones, the ones that are like 30 seconds of genius? Those make my day. Sometimes even make my year.
I think this is the very best commercial I’ve ever seen, and anyone with the Discovery Channel has seen it, too. It’s from last year (maybe even 2007), but they are playing it again, which makes me happy. It has all the hallmarks of a good commercial: It sells the product, creates an emotional reaction in the audience, is catchy, and associates the product with a need/want of the audience. I absolutely adore that commercial. It never fails to bring tears to my eyes. I have the song on my Zune.
Aww that’s a lovely ad – they don’t show that here, we just get lots of little short ones showing you amazing things about the world with the words “the world is just awesome” – I still love those ads because it’s the truth!

OMG, I love that commercial. I haven’t seen the new version. I will have to watch for it.
I love it so much. The one they’ve been playing now actually has new people and lines. I think I prefer the older one, but I love them both. The original one aired a ton last year when I was pregnant and then miscarrying, and every.single.time. it had me bawling like a baby.
